A key feature of the Alert4Pets service is that it enables an owner to send a 'Lost Pet Alert' to other Alert4Pets members in the area where the pet was lost so that, hopefully, one of them will find the lost pet and reunite it with its owner as soon as possible. In order to do this we need to know where the pet was lost and where each of our members lives.
Postcodes are the primary method of locating members and lost pet locations since they identify a location within, usually, a hundred yards or so. Hence they are vital to our service.
Sometimes, though, it is difficult to know the exact postcode where a pet was lost, especially if you were out walking in the countryside at the time. In this case, you can tell us the location by providing a latitude and longitude. While this may sound daunting, they are nothing more than two numbers that can easily be obtained from a mapping tool like Google Maps.
More help on this is available on the 'Lost Pet Alert' page via the
button, should you need it.
To enable you to provide this information accurately and effectively we offer the following methods of finding a particular Post Code or Latitude and Logitude. These are free services provided by reputable organisations.
